"Buyer beware - The rubber may disintegrate" 2010-03-07By
D. Rowland (Morgan Hill, CA)
I have a pair of men's Bugaboots where the lower rubber is cracking and completely delaminated from the leather upper at the stitching. They are now useless. The boots are about 4 years old and have less than 8 uses on them because I only use them for snow trips. If you look at the reviews for the woman's boot this complaint is very common. It looks like these failures are time based and therefore a material defect. I would expect a boot to last a lifetime if they are only worn once a year. Columbia's customer service won't give me the time of day so help is unlikely if yours fail. If you haven't already bought them choose a different boot. I really loved these boots. They were comfortable and did not need a break in. I'm sad to see them go but I'm not about to replace them with the same model.
"Awesome boot - wide feet need the WIDE WIDTH version!" 2010-03-03By
Sol BetancourtHi everyone, just a quick note on sizing. I'm an 11.5 4E in New Balance shoes, and these boots fit perfectly in the size 11.5 WIDE WIDTH version (not the medium width) with a pair of hiking socks. It's a great boot, but if you have wide feet, try to find the wide width version that they made last season. Amazon had a few last time i checked. good luck!
"Metamorpho does the Soft Snow Shoe Shuffle..." 2010-02-25By
! Metamorpho ;) (Castle in Scotland)
Folks. Many people ask me, "Metamorpho, how did you ever get that rugged and healthy glow? Is it that special elixar you mix? Make me some". Of course I tell them that I look this way by manipulating my own chromosome make-up. Plus, being pure spirit helps in the non-ageing process. But, for arguments sake I tell them that fresh air will do the trick. They ask where they can get this fresh air. And then I have to tell them about my extensive lecture tour.
As loyal followers of my reviews know, I make a living out of doing lectures all across the globe in the quest to save mankind from itself. But, what few realize, is that your beloved Metamorpho is trying to save the animals as well. Thus, my lectures bring me to distant lands such as the Arctic. Yes. I have fans there as well. There are many, in fact. Last tour was sponsored by The Penquin Appreciation Society for Metamorpho. Other invites have been from Caribous Against Wallplaques, Seals With A Kiss and Polar Bears Fur Coke. Very gracious fans indeed. I am always treated to a fish dinner with frozen daquiris.
Be that as it may, the colder climate requires special clothing. My seer's thermalite outfit seems to do well protecting me from the harsh elements. However, I was an aching soul with frost bitten feet. Believe me, there was no "walking on sunshine" here folks. That is, not until......
Yes. You guessed it. I found these EXCELLENT boots offered by Columbia Sportswear. These boots are made for walkin', and that's just what they'll do. Over snow, around snowdrifts, and treacherous tundra. They are amazing and if you're looking for a boot to fulfill all your winter needs, this one is exceptional.
First off, they are extremely comfortable and warm. The soft inner shell of soft thinsulite protects you totally from the cold, making your toes nice and toasty. The smooth polyester lining makes your feet just glide into them with ease. There will never be a need to use a shoe (or Caribou) horn and struggle to get them on. It's also made of nubuck and has durable metal shoestring holders with which to firmly secure the boot. The traction grips on the soles really help to steady your stride and the outside toe and heel materials are made of some sort of technological, a go-go discovery material that, even if you accidentally hit a snowboard, or kick a chateau fireplace, you will not be hurt in the least.
And did I mention these boots are totally waterproof? Yes. You need not worry about wet feet any longer. These will not leak at all. Take my word. I even stood in water ice-fishing and not one drop people! Of course, the seals got all the fish, but my boots were a success!
This is one pair of high quality boots. They are durable and they have lasted year after year with the same incredible results. If you are a frequent participant of throwing snowballs, and hitting Seer's hats off their head, these boots are indispensable. I'm telling you, you cannot buy a better boot for the money and, considering all the benefits, this product is a steal. Make like a thief and get them NOW!
They have my highest recommendation. Beleive me, you'll get a real kick out of them.

"Excellent Snow Boot" 2010-02-22By
D. Roth (Audubon, PA USA)
At the beginning of this winter season in the Philadelphia area, I decided I needed to get new snow boots because I was having difficulty keeping my footing on my hilly driveway when it had snow or ice on it. I ended up choosing this boot and I am very pleased with it.
We have had over 70 inches of snow this winter, so I have had ample opportunity to wear them. I feel very sure footed on my driveway in these boots. My feet remain warm and dry when tromping around in the snow. So, they have met my needs perfectly.
I know this is a small point, and I'm sure other boots have this feature, but I have never run across it in snow or work boots. These boots have grommets for locking the laces in place. So, even if the laces come untied, the boot will not come loose. Nice idea.
"Big Foot's Warm - At Last" 2010-02-16By
John N. Schear (Roanoke, Virginia United States)
After all these really cold days (for here at least) old size 13 finally got his footsies warm and toasty. At first blush they look heavy and bulky. That is far from the facts. They are bigger than one's foot but that's good. The extra width provides better stability to the foot and makes walking better especially in snow. The weight is far less in fact than the look. I expected the opposite and was delightfully surprised. I, however, would not like to run a marathon in these boots. Unlike other boots that I have worn, these slip on easy and when laced they fit perfectly. I really like the top lace holder. It is just the perfect add-on. No water comes in unless you get over 8 inches deep in water or sloppy snow. Then the water comes over the top and not much if the boot is laced properly. Absolutely nothing comes through the boot itself. Often boots have a break-in period. Not these. On and go with ease.
Bottom Line: Big Foot would have another pair in a nanosecond and no equivocation.
